Professor Friedrich, Chair Professor of the Institute of Medical Biotechnology and principal investigator of SAOT, became Honorary Faculty Member and Conjoint Professor of the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute in Sydney, Australia.

Martin Hohmann ist the first SAOT doctoral researcher taking part in the Cotutelle agreement between Ryerson University, Toronto, and the Friedrich-Alexander Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. The agreement enables him to go for two degrees, one from Ryerson and one from Erlangen.
